Ajax talent Hato names his main area for improvement

Ajax defender Jorrel Hato believes he needs to be more vocal. The seventeen-year-old left-footer shared this in an extensive interview in this week's Voetbal International.

In it, Hato talks about his development and which players provide him with advice in Amsterdam. 'Kenneth Taylor and Devyne Rensch help me a lot, but also Steven Bergwijn, Steven Berghuis, and Remko Pasveer,' he lists. 'These are guys with a lot of experience. When they tell you something, you listen.

Of course, I listen to everyone, if they want to help me. It shouldn't matter who says it. But you certainly learn a lot from those experienced guys,' says the young defender.

He wants to assert himself more, with Hato citing this as his main area for improvement. Just because he's by far the youngest on the field doesn't mean, in his eyes, that he can't speak up. 'I need to coach more, much more, I think. That's what I'm focusing on the most right now. At Ajax, we want to form a real team on the field, so you have to communicate well. You have to demand things from each other, but also help each other, making things easier for all of us. It's a challenging situation, but I believe we will come out stronger.'
