Another Premier League player suspended for months due to gambling

After Ivan Toney, another Premier League player has been suspended for breaching the gambling rules. This time, it's Harry Toffolo (28) who faces the consequences. The Nottingham Forest defender will have to sit out for five months next year.

Between 2014 and 2017, Toffolo reportedly violated the rules as many as 375 times. The FA rules dictate that players cannot place bets or pass on information to gamblers, but Toffolo did not adhere to these guidelines.

As a player for Norwich City, on loan at clubs like Swindon Town and Scunthorpe United, he went a step too far.

The FA states that the precise reasons for the suspension will be published. For now, Toffolo can still play, as his suspension will only start in the 2024/2025 season. This means that Forest can still make use of the defender this season.

In May, Toney was penalized for the same issues. The Brentford striker received an eight-month suspension that, unlike Toffolo's, would start immediately. Toney had broken the betting rules 232 times.
