After the lost away match against Arsenal, PSV is preparing for the first home match in the Champions League group stage. "We have to perform better in all departments than against Arsenal. I thought we played well in possession then, but we didn't create real chances. Especially defensively, we have to do better," Bosz said at a press conference.
Sevilla's Strength
"We're playing at home tomorrow, and you have to win in the Champions League. We'll see what the balance of power between Sevilla and us is. I watched them against Barcelona and they were impressive. It wasn’t just defensive, they played very well and pressed high. Although they did lose the first three league games of this season, those guys are still in for the football," Bosz continued.
The PSV coach also spoke with former Sevilla striker and PSV captain Luuk de Jong about the approach against Sevilla. "Of course, I discussed it with Luuk. But it's still hard to predict how they will play because, like us, they have more than eleven good players. Their strength mainly lies in experience: just look at their ages. They also have a very skillful, versatile team, and they have fast guys up front."
Enough Powder
Bosz is unsure whether Jerdy Schouten will be available against Sevilla on Tuesday. "We still have one training session to go and after that, we will decide if he will play. A few guys are questionable. But if you want to play, you have to be a hundred percent fit," said the coach, who is not worried about the missed opportunities in the home game against FC Volendam.
"We've saved something for tomorrow: if you use up all your powder in such a match, that’s also not good," Bosz said with a wink. "I’ve so often experienced in football that you get a lot of chances, but it doesn’t really work out in a match. And yet we still scored three times against Volendam. We have scored 23 this season in seven games. That’s a good average. I’m only going to start worrying if we don’t create those chances."
