The 61-year-old German Peter Zeidler is the new coach of Bochum, a club that secured its place in the German football league through the play-off with the third-placed team of the second division.

This will be Zeidler's first experience as a head coach in the Bundesliga, after having served as an assistant at Hoffenheim and also having worked with the B teams of Stuttgart and Nuremberg.

Zeidler, who replaces interim coach Heiko Butscher at Bochum, has been outside of Germany since 2011. He has coached Tours (France), Liefering and Salzburg (Austria), Sion (Switzerland), Sochaux (France), and for the past six seasons, St. Gallen (Switzerland). During his tenure at St. Gallen, Zeidler built a reputation for developing young talent and implementing an attractive style of play, which helped the club achieve notable success in the Swiss Super League.

Bochum finished the German league in 16th and third-to-last position, securing their place in the top tier by defeating Fortuna Düsseldorf, the third-placed team in Bundesliga 2, in the play-off. The club faced a challenging season, and the play-off victory was a crucial moment to maintain their status in the Bundesliga.

Zeidler's appointment marks a new chapter for Bochum, as the club aims to stabilize its position in the Bundesliga and build on its recent survival. With his extensive experience in European football and a proven track record of success, Zeidler is expected to bring fresh ideas and a strategic approach to the team. The management and fans are hopeful that his leadership will guide Bochum to improved performances and a more secure standing in the league.

Zeidler's return to German football is highly anticipated, as he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise gained from his international coaching career. His ability to adapt and thrive in different footballing environments will be a significant asset as he takes on the challenge of leading Bochum in the highly competitive Bundesliga.
