Premier League accuses Leicester of breaching financial fair play rules

Leicester City, one of English football's most memorable recent champions, is now facing serious accusations related to financial misconduct.

According to a formal statement released by the Premier League’s arbitration tribunal, the club has allegedly breached several financial sustainability rules during its time in the EFL Championship, England’s second division. These rules are part of the English Football League’s Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) regulations, which aim to ensure that clubs live within their means and operate on financially responsible terms.

The charges against Leicester City relate specifically to the 2023/24 season a campaign in which the club earned promotion back to the Premier League by winning the Championship title.
