With two goals, Scott McTominay was the celebrated man in Manchester United's victory over Chelsea on Wednesday. The notable match winner saw the win as a potential building block.

"We wanted to respond, but it needs to be like this every week and that's what we talk about in the dressing room," said the Scottish midfielder to MUTV.

"It can't be just one game where we have to respond, we need to show it every week."

Manchester United thus recovered from a lackluster performance at Newcastle United last weekend (1-0). "We know the fans are extremely demanding and so are we as players, so that's what we expect. Going back to the Newcastle game, we know it wasn't good enough and that still stings us. But tonight is a building block."

For McTominay, these were his fourth and fifth Premier League goals of the season. "It's something I want to keep building into my game. People tell me I can score goals and you just have to believe in yourself. My dad and mom have always said 'get into the box' and try to score goals, my grandpa says it too. I couldn't believe I didn't make a hat-trick, I'm furious, but that's football."

Manchester United hopes for a second consecutive win in the Premier League on Saturday. Then Bournemouth will be the challenger at Old Trafford. The team from the south of England is fifteenth and won 0-2 at Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Former Feyenoord player Marcos Senesi opened the scoring for Bournemouth.
