Tuchel critical of De Ligt's two competitors

Thomas Tuchel thought his central defensive duo did not perform well in the top match against RB Leipzig. Bayern Munich drew 2-2 and the German coach thought that Dayot Upamecano and Min-Jae Kim, the two competitors of Matthijs de Ligt, did not look good in the 0-1.

RB Leipzig took the lead within twenty minutes on Saturday evening with a goal from Loïs Openda. 'There was no reason at all for Min-Jae to not engage in the duel there,' Tuchel said on Sky Deutschland. 'And then Upa, instead of saving the situation, goes outside, thus giving exactly that space away to Openda. This is completely the opposite behavior of what we should actually be showing.'

But the two central defenders were not the only players who fell through the ice in the first half. 'The game was very slow and faulty in general. Maybe it was due to the plan, that is my responsibility. But the goals against came from individual mistakes. So, my talk at half-time was a bit more emotional than usual. The response in the second half was good.

Kimmich also came in front of the camera and expressed his dissatisfaction. 'It's just stupid how we concede the goals. We are currently having problems against top teams. It didn't work against Leverkusen, now not against Leipzig, and it was also shaky against Manchester United.'

At Leipzig, disappointment prevails. The current number five took a 2-0 lead but gave it away in the second half. 'Especially because we were so good in the first half, this is, of course, disappointing,' said former Heracles goalkeeper Janis Blaswich afterwards. 'The equalizer came from a corner; that shouldn't happen to us. And with Kane's penalty, unfortunately, I chose the wrong corner.'
