Van Bommel is frustrated with the short preparation time and hints at the arrival of Stengs

Shortly after winning the Belgian national title, Antwerp FC is already competing for the next trophy. Coach Mark van Bommel is set to play the Super Cup match against KV Mechelen on Sunday, and he's excited about it.

Van Bommel is disappointed that he has so little preparation time and has to play again so soon. Antwerp has only played three friendly matches.

"That's short, and I find it regrettable. You can hardly practice, and you have to be ready very quickly," says Van Bommel, as quoted by Het Nieuwsblad. "When you play for a trophy, you won't try out new things. You won't experiment in the first league game against Cercle (the first league match)."

Regarding the transfer of Calvin Stengs, Van Bommel is not revealing anything yet. Antwerp is on the verge of finalizing a deal with OGC Nice for the Dutch player, who was already on loan. "It's only official when we announce it. However, I can confirm that we are working on it," says Van Bommel.

Antwerp won both the Belgian Cup and the national title last season.
