Coach Vicente Moreno will take charge of Osasuna in the 2024/25 season, having signed a one-year contract, the club announced on Monday. Osasuna finished 11th in the Spanish league.

The 49-year-old coach had been without a club since last September, when he was dismissed from Almería after seven rounds of the championship, during which he did not secure any victories for the Andalusian team – they were eventually relegated to the second division at the end of the season.

Vicente Moreno, who has also coached Xerez, Nàstic, Mallorca, Espanyol, and Al Shabab (Saudi Arabia), will replace Jagoba Arrasate, who spent six years in charge of the Pamplona team, leading them back to La Liga and keeping them there for the next five seasons.

Vicente Moreno's Coaching Journey

Moreno's extensive coaching career has seen him manage various teams with differing challenges and successes. At Mallorca, he enjoyed significant success by achieving back-to-back promotions, taking the team from Segunda B to La Liga in just two seasons. His tenure at Espanyol was also notable, where he stabilized the club and ensured a respectable league finish.

His international experience at Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia added a new dimension to his coaching repertoire, exposing him to different footballing cultures and styles. Despite a brief and challenging spell at Almería, where he struggled to secure victories, Moreno's overall coaching record remains impressive.

Jagoba Arrasate's Legacy

Jagoba Arrasate leaves a lasting legacy at Osasuna. Taking over the team in 2018, he guided them to promotion from Segunda División in his first season. Under his leadership, Osasuna consistently performed well in La Liga, maintaining their status in the top flight for five consecutive seasons. His departure marks the end of an era for the club, with Moreno now tasked with continuing and building upon Arrasate's work.

Future Prospects for Osasuna

With Moreno at the helm, Osasuna looks forward to the 2024/25 season with renewed optimism. The club aims to build on its solid 11th place finish and push for higher league standings. Moreno's experience and tactical acumen will be crucial in navigating the challenges of La Liga and ensuring that Osasuna remains competitive.

The club's management and fans will be eager to see how Moreno implements his strategies and adapts to the squad. His ability to foster strong team cohesion and his track record of success in previous roles suggest that Osasuna could be in for an exciting season ahead.

Osasuna's Goals for the Upcoming Season

For the upcoming season, Osasuna's goals will likely include maintaining or improving their league position, developing young talents, and possibly making a deep run in domestic cup competitions. Moreno's focus on building solid interpersonal relationships within the team, as highlighted in his previous tenures, will be pivotal in achieving these objectives.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Vicente Moreno and his efforts to steer Osasuna to new heights. The club's faithful supporters will hope that his arrival marks the beginning of a successful chapter in Osasuna's rich history.
